On the small revolving bookstand (right above)…
… the prayer book from my confirmation in the Church of England…
… by the Lord Bishop of Sherborne in Wimborne Minster on March 8th. 1959. The signature is of Stanley M. Epps, Vicar of Wimborne Minster. Rev. Epps is the man who suggested to my Mother that she make sure your son keeps up his Latin. Rev. Epps seemed to see, in St. Edith’s son, a future minister in the Anglican Church; for which vocation Latin would be useful.
On the other small revolving bookcase…
… is a Collins dictionary, awarded at Broadstone County Primary School to Robert Fripp as the Jan Fabricius Prize for English, for the school year ending July 1957; and signed by SJW Smith, the wonderful headmaster.
On the Globe Wernicke bookcase…
… are five other prize books (l>r) presented at Broadstone School. My 5.5 years at Broadstone were mostly happy. Wimborne Grammar School is another story, one of 5 less happy years.
Lunch by the back & a walk down the garden…
